Duty is not one number, it is a fold: basic customs duty on the assessable value, social welfare surcharge at 10 percent of that duty, then IGST on the whole grossed-up base.
The order is what makes the total: surcharge sits on the duty, and IGST sits on everything before it, so the same three rates in another order give another number. Only the cash-out half is a real cost. IGST comes back as input tax credit, basic customs duty and the cess do not. Duty left unpaid past the permitted period runs interest at 15 percent a year under Section 47(2) of the Customs Act.

Export proceeds must be realised within nine months of shipment today; the FEMA Export and Import Regulations 2026 move the window to fifteen months from 01-10-2026.
A RoDTEP scrip must be created within one year of the scroll, and the scrip it becomes is valid for two years from creation. Miss the first date and the second never arrives.
The dates are the smaller risk. A RoDTEP claim that was not declared on the shipping bill at the time of filing is lost permanently: no scroll is generated, so there is no clock to miss. The declaration matters more than the deadline.

Verify against the instrument in force on your consignment's own dates before acting.
